Film is not dead on Super 8...
Finally, here's a little video I shot on super 8 last March in Hawaii. We decided to turn the footage into a video about the Film Is Not Dead Workshop. Micah Dahl Anderson did the editing and music for it, and as you can see he did an awesome job. Thanks Micah!
Back in the day before I was even interested in becoming a photographer I wanted to become a filmmaker so I got into super 8 movies. I used to film friends skateboarding and playing music and all that stuff until photography became my thing.
A few months ago I was at my parents house and I found all my super 8 equipment and old cartridges and I decided to bring this back and I thought what better opportunity than the Film is not dead workshop. I have few projects coming up, and I'll keep you updated.

Walking around Tijuana, Mexico...

A couple of weeks ago I was in San Diego with Jon and we decided to go down to Tijuana, Mexico. Earlier that week Tijuana was the scene of lots of drug related shootings that caused several deaths. A lot of people warned us to not go there because it was not safe. We were not going to go, but at the last minute we were like, we have to go, so we did. Once we got there, the place seemed empty compared to what it is normally. There were lots of cops with machine guns and almost no sign of locals. I wonder if it was because of siesta time. Anyway, we went down there and spent a few hours walking around and shooting some Holgas. I'm glad we went there; Tijuana is the perfect place for cross-processing film with toy cameras.
Pictures from San Diego coming soon...

Photo by Grant Olsen - Kid in Amber, India...
My good friend Grant Olsen took this awesome image. He is not a professional photographer but he is an avid Holga shooter.
He submitted this image to a contest on a British newspaper called the Independent and he won first place.
This is what Grant said about this picture:
"In all my life I've never seen anything so beautiful as the city of Amber, India. Although I had a digital camera with me, I decided to shoot with my Holga because it captures the simplicity and timelessness of a subject better than any other camera. I met this boy there. He smiled, and I was touched by his sincerity. This was the only shot I took of him. There was no posing."
Congratulations Grant, this image is fantastic!
Grant is a singer/songwriter, you should check out his music here!

Provo Care Center...

A couple of weeks ago my friend Cole Nielsen told me he was doing a service project for a place called Provo Care Center. This place is a non-profit care facility helping elderly and mentally handicapped patients. His project consisted in designing a brochure and a couple of posters for the company, so he asked me if I could help with some photographs.
I am always looking forward to opportunities like these. I always love to give something back to the community, especially to places like the Provo Care Center.
In the end Cole was able to create some great work. Thanks Cole!
